Easter

I often wish laziness could be compartmentalized into just one aspect of my life. Well maybe it can, but in my case it cannot. I am happy I chose to pick up the camera on Easter. Spring break passed and I was going to pick it up... but I went to PA without the camera. I left it with K, who maybe would have picked it up, if I had not taken the battery charger with me to PA.

Easter Pic

This year I am hoping to shake off my bah.hum.bug attitude of all holidays. 3 weeks ago I remembered Easter was coming, so that made it easier to prepare. I talked to k about it and the first words out of his mouth were - "NO CANDY" - I almost fainted. Where am I going to get candy if I can't take if from the kids baskets. I decided to regroup, and we were able to successfully pull of Easter with each boy getting a basket full of baseballs and two Hershey bars. (come on - you knew I couldn't do it) Sadly in a moment of desperate need for chocolate - I bought one of J's Hershey bars off him for a dollar - you can say it, "pathetic". After church we had a little lesson on the real reason for the season, and then we did the hunt.

Yep... all those eggs and not one piece of candy in them! The only nice part of it was I did not have to be too prepared. I just got the old eggs out and my mom went around stealing change from all the places we could think of. K's punishment will be that when he needs that 51 cents in change from his car.... it will be gone.

Then came the real fun - a scavenger hunt for the big prize. K's other punishment - he had to do the clues for the hunt.

I have to explain one thing before you read on. In the first clue there are two names. The boys (dad included) have and ongoing comic book they are writing and illustrating. Of course they needed super hero names. Well they were pulled from real life of course. I even have a name - I am the arch enemy- but that is for another post. Anyways you will soon see that one name is caca poo poo - that name was given to one of the boys by a very little cousin, Tyler, who heard that word at preschool. Tyler then came home and called J it for the rest of the week. It was so funny to us because my brother and his family tried so hard to make him stop. It lives on in our own comic.

Lego Scavenger Hunt

Clue #1

We need your help my little Padewans Caca Poo Poo and Bed Head Boy. We received a call from Jar Jar Binks on the Planet of Baby that the Bounty Hunter has stolen the Disc of Light. You must go talk to Jar Jar Binks to track down the Bounty Hunter.

Clue #2

The Bounty Hunter stole the Disc of Light from the Sacred Library and before I could stop him he jumped onto his ship and told me "It's like stealing candy from a baby." But before his ship left, I saw on the coordinates that he was headed for the Planet of Slumber. Skywalker is following him right now. Hurry and go there to help him.

Clue #3

His ship was too powerful and he shot me down laughing "You must be sleeping because that was so easy. You are no "game" for me. Ha ha ha." Obiwan arrived just before you did. I told him what happened and he was guessing that the Bounty Hunter was headed to the Planet of Games. You must hurry and help Obiwan.

Clue #4

You two got here just a little too late. he got a new powerful gun and shot my lightsaber out of my hand and said " You are so lame. You can never hold on to your light saber. I will now sell this Disc of Light to the highest bidder." There will be and auction soon on the Planet of Legos. Take these two guns. You will need them because you cannot get close to him with your lightsabers. You must hurry and stop him before he sells the Disc of Light.

J took his nerf gun and got that Bounty Hunter down in one shot! Under the roof was hiding the Disc of Light (Clone Wars Episode III, Wii game) There are lots of funny things about those clues that k had a lot of fun explaining to me. I will not repeat them out of sheer laziness (and I probably didn't understand them all myself). I am thinking that this no candy thing worked out better for the boys because they got some good loot.

I had to end this post with a pic of the little sushi and her loot. A frog egg with 3 big ones in it, and a bag of m&ms she gladly shared with me.

One!

I can't believe how much has happened in one year! I was a little sad to see her first year gone - she has been a HUGE bundle of joy for our family. We celebrated her birthday on the 14Th, late of course. I wanted to do a little more for her birthday, but I had been sick with the stomach flu - so you get what you get. I am impressed she even had a cake to eat. Here she is - weighing in at a whooping 17 lbs - and yes - still quite bald.
This is the Fu Manchu beard k made for her. I think she enjoyed eating it as much as her cake. The hat she is wearing is her only birthday gift. (this kid has a lame mom) Jenea made it for her, and it came in the mail the day of her celebration!
Of course I told k to decorate the cake. A flower - he is amazing :) ..

She has yet to take her first step. It just doesn't seem to be important to her. One day :). She does love to eat - what can I say - she takes after her mom. She also loves to sleep - another trait I can claim!

This time I knew I wasn't going to eat any cake. That made it much easier to watch them attack. Even Sushi is down with the tradition. Her face was smashed in first. Then she was glad to help shove her brothers face in.

We didn't want to leave anyone out.

I guess if you look like this at the end of your day - it has been a pretty good one! We love you little lady!

Happy Chinese New Year! Bring on the Rabbit Year!

K wanted to spend Chinese New Year with his family - so we loaded up and went down to LA for 5 days. We went to the Chinese temple and saw some fun stuff. I don't have pictures of it all because at some point I was so worried that we had lost s. Then he was found and I was able to enjoy the day. My favorite part was the dragon that dances. It is so beautiful and amazing how the men make his body move. Alas I don't have a picture of it. This is part of the temple we were at.

Here is the wishing tree. Spencer wanted to get the red ribbon but didn't want to throw his wish in with the others. It hangs in his room - hopefully to bring him good luck all year.

Then we waited in line for some STINKY TOFU!! That is some disgusting stuff, and the line is LONG. The boys tried it and liked it (we bribed them with $1) Even the Bizarre Foods guy thought it was nasty. I did try some and it was like cow dung exploding into my mouth and nose. Then a couple of hours later it would just pop back up in my nose. Never again.

On the walk back to the car..

There may or may not - have been a Sushi rodeo

We went to the parade in Chinatown, but I think I took pictures with k's sisters camera. Oh well. Here is Sushi in her Valentine's Day party outfit - so cute.
Two stories I have to record.
The other day the boys were getting in the car after school. J looked like he had won the lotto, and s looked like he was going to cry. Here is a little of the conversation
J - laughing, laughing - oh that was so funny
Mom - what was funny? and why is s so sad?
J - Oh it was so funny to me, but not to him
Mom - (insert. short lecture on the not-so-niceness of this attitude) so what happened?
S - head down, and some tears in his eyes
J - oh we were standing there when some girls from my class came up to s and said "you're so cute!!" (some more laughing)
Mom - speechless (and inside kind of laughing too)
Poor boy - These little ladies have been bugging him all year.
On the same note. K was going through j's valentine loot from school when he started to laugh and said "no way".. Well - yes way - there were some Valentine's in j's box from his class - for s. A little crazy, but funny - these are some persistent ladies.

And then he was 9

Where does the time go? Another birthday - but a different theme. Aliens was what J wanted and K had to deliver. Notice the chopsticks holding up the mother ship. They didn't prove to be strong enough. They lasted just long enough for the pictures.

I am noticing a trend - there is never going to be another birthday where someone doesn't bite the cake. I get it - they are boys. What they don't care about is tainting the whole cake with their nastiness. Seriously - save me some dang cake. There was barely any left by the time J and S had at it.

Here is the Sushinator showing everyone what she thinks of bows. First she finds it.

Then she pulls on it.

Then she discards it! What a butt!!

We were at my new little niece's baby blessing when Sushi saw her pain as she lay asleep in my arms. Sushi knew she had to rescue Penelope from the annoying bow on her head. She did all she could to get it before I could stop her but I am too fast! Sushi is looking out for all the little ladies who hate the bows.

Christmas - the best present ever!

Well that's what my boys said. Christmas was filled with family, food, legos (you can never have too many legos), and - wait for it - hissing roaches. As we were driving away J and S were discussing how those roaches are the best present they ever got. They are sadly still alive (did I mention that they are huge). These pictures are self explanatory. (If your eating, put the food down - these babies are gross)

Oh and Sushi loves them as much as her brothers. She wants to grab and play with them - and let's be honest - eat them.

I just can't help adding extra pics of the pretty lady. These are from our fun day of pics in a tutu DeAnn made her. She is so fun!

a bad gene

Yep folks, I got one. A bad gene.. I don't know what chromosome it's located on - maybe all, but it's a beast. LAZINESS!! Here goes a quick update on life in CA. We had some birthday celebrations - if that's what you could call them.

I am only blogging S right now because I can see the laziness looming in the near future (like in the next 5 min). :) He turned 7 (CRAZY!), and he wanted a shark birthday. Well the cupcakes for his class had sharks on them, but the home cake was a shark, squid, octopus, sea cucumber and sea crap cake. S has been obsessed with the ocean for quite a while. In the summer he took a class where he got to dissect a squid. He wanted to keep it, but the stink was unbelievable. (of course k is the magician with the red licorice - making all the sea animals needed)

They tried, but he's just too "king kong" for them.

Jacob wondering when he will be strong enough to stuff k's face in the cake... keep dreaming those big dreams little boy.

Of course I couldn't help slipping in a picture of the sushinator. She is sooo fun and cute, and the boys love her so much. They are amazing at helping out. They can make her laugh like no other, especially when playing games where she has the poop touch (related to the cheese touch in Diary of a Wimpy Kid). They are trying to run from her and she loves crawling after them, laughing as she tries to pass on the poop touch. They also love to take her into their room and have baby obstacle courses. She always accomplishes great feats - like crawling over pillows placed in her way. She in turn loves to eat their Lego pieces.

Sushi

Well I am trying to get some pictures up before we leave for WA today. I have been successful, which when you think about my record, it is amazing!! It is hot here in CA, and the kids are still enjoying their cousins like addicts!!

Some pics of the sushinator - I have some really cute ones on my phone that I may at one point in my life attempt to download. : )

Here are all the cousins on Sushi's blessing day - so fun.

This picture is what happens when the adult boys get together. Here is K swinging like a monkey around and around. It makes my armpits hurt just looking at it. The big boys got in there eventually, pushing K to make him go higher. I was impressed - all the boys and men took a turn as did some ladies. I am off to WA to see some Handy's - I will post some pics for those of you who know them!!
